Dr. Toshima karki biography

Dr. Toshima karki (डा. तोसिमा कार्की) was born on May 20, 1990 in Nawalparasi, Nepal. Her father’s name is Padam Karki and her mother is Deepa Karki. She is a former Minister of State for the Health Ministry of Nepal. She is a surgeon by profession and a politician. 

Education

Toshima studied at Shahid Dharma Bhakta School from 1 to SLC (grade 10). After SLC, she went to Modern Indian School, Kathmandu, and completed +2. Toshima studied MBBS at KIST Medical College in Lalitpur. She received her specialization in Master in General Surgery from Kathmandu University School of Medical Sciences. 

Career

After completing her studies, she joined KIST Medical College and Teaching Hospital as a medical doctor from 2014 to 2016. Toshima joined the Patan Academy of Health Sciences on April 7, 2022 as a general surgeon. She also served as a lecturer in surgery at the Patan Academy of Health Sciences. 

Political career

She has remained an activist since her undergraduate days; she led the protest of intern doctors and medical students against medical colleges in 2071/72 B.S. Dr. Karki is a member of the Rastriya Swatantra Party. In 2022, she was elected to the House of Representatives from Lalitpur.

Social work

She helped people suffering from COVID-19 via social media for free. She posted useful posts and medical suggestions.
