Pushpa Kamal Dahal (पुष्पकमल दाहाल) was born on December 11, 1954 (Mangshir 26, 2011 B.S.) in Lewade, Dhikur Pokhari. He spent most of his childhood in Chitwan. He changed his name from Chabilal Dahal to Pushpa Kamal Dahal while studying in class 10. He is also known as Prachanda. He is a Nepalese politician. In 2019 B.S., he migrated from Dhikurpokhari to Shivnagar village, Bharatpur, Chitwan.

Education
He passed S.L.C. (Grade 10) from Narayani Vidya Mandir, Shivnagar, Chitwan. Dahal completed an I.S.C. from Patan Multipurpose Campus. After completing his B.Sc. in Agriculture from Rampur Agricultural Campus, he studied up to MPA.
Maoist Insurgency
Dahal played a central role in leading the Maoist insurgency that began in 1996. He was the chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) and led the rebel forces. The insurgency lasted for a decade.
Peace Process
In 2006, following years of conflict, Prachanda and the Maoists signed a peace agreement with the government, ending the armed insurgency. This led to the dissolution of the monarchy and the establishment of a republic in Nepal.
Politics
Dahal entered politics in 2028 B.S. After the peace agreement, Prachanda transitioned from a rebel leader to a mainstream politician. His party, the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist), participated in the elections and emerged as the largest party in the Constituent Assembly in 2008.
He previously held the prime ministerial post from 2008 (2065 B.S.) as the first prime minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal. From 2016 to 2017, he became prime minister for the third time. He was elected prime minister for the third time in 2022, following that year’s elections.
