Bhim Nidhi Tiwari biography

Bhim Nidhi Tiwari was born on March 13, 1911. His birthplace is in Dilli bazar, Kathmandu, Nepal. His father name is Lalnidhi Tiwari and mother Nanda Kumari Tiwari. He belongs to middle class family. His mother died when he was seven years old and lost his father at the age of 27. His Spouse name is Bhuwaneshwori Tiwari. He could not regularly attend the school after her mother’s death but he completed intermediate level in liberal arts. In Nepalese literature he is famous as a Poet, Novelist and Playwright. His contribution in Nepalese literature such as poetry, lyrics, drama, story, essay, satires and novel.

He have worked as a section officer in the Ministry of Education and an assistant secretary a government employee for altogether 32 years. He established Nepal Sahitya Press (1938), Nepal Natak Sangh(1949). Main motive of Nepal Natak Sangh was to uplift the status of Nepali literature and drama. He contributed to the enrichment of Nepalese drama and he is known for his work such as ‘Shahanshila Sushila’, ‘Shilanyas’, ‘Tarpan’, ‘Titaura’, ‘Masyaura’, ‘Pandhra Prabhand’, ‘Insaf’ etc. His work can also be said as mirror the Nepalese society as it gives insight into culture, history and mythologies. In his writing we can see against smoking, drinking, and gambling which shows that he believed in social reform.

He was awarded and decorated with Madan Puraskar(1970), Prabal Gorkha Dakshin Bahu, Ratna Shree medal, his Late Majesty King Tribhuvan honored him with the Prakhyan Trishakti Patta, Rajyabisekh Padak and Gyanpad Sewa. and many other honours in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the Nepalese literature.

He visited many parts of the world such as Netherlands, Germany, London, Rome, India and Russia. He passed away on June 1, 1973 Setighat, Tanahun, Nepal.
