Chabilal Pokhrel was born on 1904. He is popular for propagating Sanskrit and modern education during the Rana regime. Rana rulers were agains educating normal people as there were afraid if people gets education then their autocracy might end. It was courageous work to do such things during Rana regime, only fearless people could do such things during that time. He gave a significant contribution to education system in Nepal in those days. People were afraid of getting education. He helped opening schools and colleges in Dharan, Dhankuta and other places of Nepal. Because of his work he was considered the Gandhi of eastern Nepal. He was conferred with Ambedkar Award for his education campaign among the low caste people and untouchables. He died in 1999 and Nepal lost one of the important person.
