Rabi Lamichhane was born on September 5, 1974 in Nagarkot, Nepal. His father’s name is Lal Chandra Lamichhane. Lamichhane spent his childhood in Chabahil, Kathmandu. He is a popular television presenter, journalist, radio presenter, and later entered into politics. He became a member of the House of Representatives from Chitwan and then a Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister of Nepal.
Rabi Lamichhane studied at “Bhirikuti Secondary School” and grade 10 at “Vijaya Memorial School”, got 66% in SLC. After completing SLC (grade 10) he joined “Ratna Rajya Campus” in Kathmandu then he migrated to America in 2059 B.S.
Career
Rabi Lamichhane used to host a show from his teenage. His show ‘Yaha ko Chalan’ was one of his popular TV programs back then. Lamichhane hosted “Good morning Kathmandu” and “Sajha pakha” programs in Image FM. He gained experience in different fields in Nepal and USA. From 2007 to 2017, he was a green card holder in the USA. After living a decade in the USA, he thought of doing something for the motherland and came back to Nepal leaving his US green card.
Journalism career
Lamichhane worked on News24, Galaxy 4K TV, etc. He hosted popular programs like Sidha Kura Pradhanmantri Sanga and Sidha Kura Janata Sanga. As a journalist, Lamichhane came into the limelight by exposing fraud, irregularities, and corruption happening in the country.
Political career
On 21 June 2022, Lamichhane formed a new political party, Rastriya Swatantra Party. Lamichhane was elected with a majority of 34,312 votes and became Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs between December 2022 to January 2023. Again he was appointed as minister for home affairs for the second time on 6th March 2024.
Personal life
Lamichhane is married to Nikita Poudel, on 21 January 2019. He has two daughters.
Rabi Lamichhane Guinness World Record
Lamichhane has set a world record by running a television interview for 62 hr 12 minutes continuously on News24 television in Kathmandu from 11 to 14 April 2013. The 52-hour previous record was set by Ukrainian presenters.
