Education
Dr. Swarnim Wagle holds a MPA in International Development from Harvard University and a PhD in economics from the Australian National University.
Career
He has more than twelve years of experience in international organizations.
From August 2017 to February 2018, he served as vice chair of the National Planning Commission. Wagle was appointed chair of the Institute for Integrated Development Studies (IIDS) in 2019. He has worked as an economic policy specialist at the World Bank intermittently and the United Nations Development Program. He was the Chief Economic Advisor at the UNDP Regional Bureau for Asia and the Pacific in New York, covering 36 countries during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Politics
He has been Deputy Chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party since November 2023, and before joining the RSP, he was in the Nepali Congress. Since April 2023, he has been a member of Nepal’s Federal Parliament, elected from Tanahun 1.
